Ceiling - part 3

On Saturday, May 27-th, about 15 cubic meters of concrete made the top layer of the ceiling.
Give it at least 2 weeks to harden. During the first week I was there almost every day to water the concrete.

Ceiling - part 2

My builders layed down steel-bar reinforcement on top of the filigran plates. The reinforcement was carefully planned (I got a special engeneering project for that).

Ceiling - part 1

We've chosen prefabricated ceiling (so called filigran or unigran). 14 boadrs, each about 2-4 meters wide and long were mounted in less than three hours in the morning of May, 23-rd. But the ceiling is not finished.

The ceiling is under way

Props and heavy machinery appeared on the construction site.
Great weather for making the ceiling.

We have rooms and a sky above our heads!

A week after, walls of the ground floor are done together with lintels (pol. nadproża). In the photos you'll see formwork (pol. szalunek) of stairs and Schiedel-like chimney.

It's one of the few great moments during the construction time. Extraordinary feelings soon to be forgotten...

Up

It was a pleasure to go each day and see walls going up and up into the sky.

Shots taken in April 27-th and 29-th.

White walls

All that happened before had beed just a prelude.
We waited for the DAY.
Finally in April 22-nd a transport of "Silka" blocks (made of sand and lime) had arrived at my site.
The material is clean, white and soon became 18cm wide home walls.
Two day delay of the transport frustrated me and my buliders but when they started brickalying the effect was visible immediately!
Despite cloudy and even rainy days the view influenced my imagination and heart started to beat faster.

April let me start

In April 10-th, when the soil finally softened I resumed construction. The first thing I needed was a connection to the waterworks. The house reqired also connection to the sewage system. Plastic pipes had to be layed down before and under the concrete layer of surface level. In several days from now walls will start to grow. I almost forgot to mention about the electricity, but this is a must at the construction site.

Enough for 2005

December 13-th.
It's the last part of work progress report this year.
I'm letting the winter to wander around for a bit more than 3 months. Then I'll ask her to leave. What now? Time to rest and think about future's home "look and feel".

Kingdom for a sand!

December 12-th and 13-th.

I had no idea how much sand I need to fill in the foundation.
The large pile of soil extracted previously was not enough.
I took 9 loads of dumper to finish the work (180 tons).
I was on the building site then and these busy, noisy and cold two days there were kind of romantic experience. ;)
